NAMTSO LAKE HOTELS
Namtso Lake, also known as the Heavenly Lake is one of the sacred lakes in Tibet. In case you are curious, the other important sacred lakes are Yamdrok Lake not far from Lhasa, and Manasarovar Lake in Western Tibet. Namtso is the largest saltwater lake in Tibet, surrounded by the snow-capped Nyechen Tanglha mountain range.
Namtso Lake sits at an altitude of 4718 meters / 15, 480 ft above sea level. You should travel to Namtso Lake only after spending a couple of days in Lhasa where you can acclimatize to high altitude before traveling to higher areas.
WHERE IS NAMTSO LAKE LOCATED
Namtso Lake is located about 250 km / 155 miles to the northwest of Lhasa. It is now a protected National Park territory. Before we enter the protected area, we have to leave our tourist car and take an eco bus that will drive us the remaining distance to the lake shore.
Namtso Lake to Lhasa: 250 km / 155 miles. It takes about 4-5 hours to drive, a portion of the roads are zigzagging mountain roads, slowing down the travel speed. Because of the high altitude, you can even encounter snow on the high mountain passes.
Namtso Lake to Damshung or Dangxiong, the nearest town: 62 km / 39 miles
NAMTSO LAKE HOTELS
In the past, there were many guesthouses and restaurants by the lake. To protect the fragile environment, all these facilities were closed. when you visit Heavenly Lake, you can now enjoy its pristine natural beauty. If you want to spend more time by the lake and stay in the area for the night, we will drive about 62 km / 39 miles to the nearest town Damshung, also spelled Dangxiong or Damxung.
Damshung is a small town with several simple local hotels and restaurants. One of the nicest hotels where we book accommodation for our travelers is Namtso Holy Goat Manor Hotel. You can also find it by its name in the Chinese Shenyang Manor Hotel.

This hotel opened in 2021 and offers standard and deluxe rooms, single, double, and triple bed options. This is a small hotel with only 52 rooms and a restaurant on site.
The Deluxe rooms offer an option to have oxygen in the room, and there are heated floors.
The hotel is in a great location with many restaurants and stores nearby.
